We have a new addition to the agency. Jordan has come to live with us for a few days in the run up to World Milk Day. A life size cow complete with an impressive udder sporting 4 (as you would expect!) bright pink tits - I am a farmers' daughter. She provides entertainment and valuable life-skills in the correct way to milk. After Poppy-Man, what next?
Recently we had a 'royal' visit from the patron saint of The SPA Way - Arlen Gould. The man who made us the way we are! He of Cardini Cesar Salad Dressing fame who, all those years ago, said: "you can have my business but as an absentee client (Chicago) I want you to guarantee your coverage"
The rest, for us, is history. I think he was quite overwhelmed by what his words had spawned and the team that greeted him when he made his way to Bermondsey.
On a sillier note, Mel and I have entered into competitive dieting. Mel, because she wants to shed a few pounds and me because my new bathroom scales told a very different tale to the old set! We have agreed that Laura's wedding on 21 June is 'D' Day. Anything goes - extreme exercise routines and even colonics! My personal method is, I believe, unique. It is the 'flour' diet. At the start of the 5-week period I bought 11 lbs of plain flour which I tipped into one bag. Since then I measure out in pounds (and ounces!) all my weight lost. This is a very graphic way to see and feel the effect of the diet. Clemmie, my daughter, suggested lard would be better. How harsh! Others simply have one word for it: LOSER!

Mega welcome to the darling Matilda, the latest future alumni of the Agency! Born on 19 April she weighed a ladylike 6lbs 8oz. Equally darling Sophie has taken to mummyhood like a duck to water (no surprises there!) And, Ian, who can cradle his first born in the palm of one hand, is the big gentle daddy.

One farewell and it’s a big one. La Wheeler has gone to new pastures and we shall miss her extraordinary talent for strangulated (but brilliant) headlines, her unique sartorial style, her innate kindness and her just ‘being there’ qualities. She will remain a much loved and valued alumni of SPA. Bon voyage and every success.
